Linkwood Family.

As usual busy with work, family & decorating (trying to sell the flat). Anyhow here is a brilliant piece of disco business from The Linkwood Family entitled Piece Of Mind. Don't know too much about them, think they hail from Edinburgh. Available from Firecracker Recordings.

Seasick Steve - Cut My Wings.

Here is a song I can't get enough of right now, it's from Seasick Steve's Doghouse Music album. This is a man playing the blues on a 3 string guitar... does'nt get any better than this.

...More Favourites.

Music from Arthur Verocai, this track is taken from his self titled album, possibly one of the best Brazilain albums of all time ... in my opinion (well it's the best one I've got).

Arthur Verocai - Cabocla.

Next, one of my favourite songs from the Sub Club. Not what you'd expect it's Billy Brooks & 40 Days. This used to be a regular play on a Thursday night from Paul Cawley & his side kick Alex at the Psy Fi nights (formerly known as Far Out at the Art School). This was one of my favourite nights, loved going every Thursday whether it was packed to the rafters or maybe just 30 people or so, this was all about quality music.

Billy Brooks - 40 days.

Jose James & The Heritage Orchestra Live On Worldwide!

Another fantastic session from the Gilles Peterson radio show, this time featuring the talents of Jose James & The Heritage Orchestra. Both of these artists have featured on this blog before & are supremely gifted in their own right, but put them together & you have the best session I've heard on GP to date. I kid you not this man is one of the best singers I've heard in along time, if you love music then you need to download this, especially for the cover of Park Bench People, genius!

Happy.

No not really, where's the sun gone. It's forgot all about us, but never mind here is the Spiritual South mix of Max Sedgley's Happy. The Art School in Glasgow used to put on a monthly Brazilian night with live bands & percussion & let me tell you this was one of the best nights I've been to in Glasgow, the atmosphere was second to none, a carnival in Glasgow if you will, albeit minus the feather dancers and the sun. This mix was a particular favourite there, now lets see if you can keep up with the beats. Brilliant stuff.

Stasis is back!

Yes, he's back but in the guise of Soul 223. Steve 'Stasis' Pickton makes a welcome return, better known for his techno this EP is more akin to the sound of Moodyman & Theo Parrish & sounds amazing.

Released on Soul Jazz Records, it's a 4 track EP..... hopefully with an album to follow. So do yourself a favour & get yourself this, available to buy on vinyl or MP3 direct from the amazing Soul Jazz Records. So here is the first track, simply entitled Q.

Brownswood Bubblers 2.

Here's the first track off the excellent Brownswood Bubblers volume 2, from my fave DJ Gilles Peterson & is featured on the Brownswood record label. This lovely little track is Cornish Waters & Walking. The compilation has more of a mellow vibe to it than the previous one & is definetly worth getting, so go out & get it right now!

Summer Time!

Well, it's finally here. I'm off work for 3 weeks, no more sick patients or cheeky, moaning relatives complaining about insignificant things. It's time for a bit of me time. Not actually going anywhere but it will just be nice to be away from the trials & tribulations of the NHS. So here is some more summer vibes for your listening pleasure.
